Roope Hintz then scored his first goal of the season on a power-play snap shot, assisted by Wyatt Johnston and Rantanen, to seal the 4-0 lead. Neither team scored in the third period.

It was the Stars' second straight win after two opening losses. Buffalo goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 14 of 18 shots, and the loss ended a two-game winning start to the Sabres' five-game homestand. Dallas plays at Pittsburgh on Saturday.
