Early Lead Sets Tone
The Dallas Stars opened the scoring early and held firm to secure a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild at Grand Casino Arena on Saturday. The result extends Dallas’ perfect start to the season, moving them to 4-0-0 with eight points in the standings. For Minnesota, the loss drops their record to 1-2-1, leaving them with three points after four games.
Dallas struck first in the opening period when Radek Faksa found the back of the net. Faksa’s goal, marked as his first of the campaign, came on a wrist shot assisted by Oskar Bäck and Joel Kiviranta. The play gave the visiting Stars a 1-0 advantage that they maintained through the rest of the frame.
Wild Respond, Then Stall
Minnesota answered back in the second period to tie the game at 1-1. Joel Eriksson Ek, playing in front of his home crowd, scored his first goal of the season on a wrist shot. Blake Coleman and Matt Boldy provided the assists for the tying marker. The goal gave the Wild brief momentum, but Dallas quickly regained control later in the same period.
Thomas Harley broke the deadlock just moments after the tie, scoring his second goal of the year. Assisted by Mikko Rantanen and Jamie Benn, Harley’s wrist shot restored the Stars’ lead at 2-1. Neither team managed to add to the scoreboard in the third period, allowing Dallas to close out the game with the narrow margin.
