Aubrey residents looking for another way to receive weather warnings can ask the city's emergency-management office about its limited supply of free NOAA weather radios.
The city's preparedness page says residents inside Aubrey and the Winn Ridge community are eligible, with radios available first-come, first-served while supplies last. Residents should email agress@aubreytx.gov to confirm availability and arrange pickup; a radio is not guaranteed.
The program is useful to know about as Denton County enters a flood-watch window from 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, to 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2. All times are Central Daylight Time. The National Weather Service extended the watch in its 2:15 p.m. Sept. 29 update.
Forecasters expect 2 to 4 inches of rain across the watch area and localized amounts of 4 to 6 inches. Slow-moving showers and storms may produce runoff affecting creeks, low-lying places and low-water crossings.
Aubrey also offers urgent city communications through its Alert Center and links to Denton County emergency notifications. Check those channels alongside official forecasts rather than depending on one device.
