The Houston Astros overcame an early deficit to defeat the Chicago White Sox 6-3 on Tuesday, September 1, at Daikin Park. The home team trailed by as many as two runs in the middle of the game before their bats clicked into gear, producing a decisive surge that sealed the win.
With the final score now 6-3, the Astros improved their record to 70-68, while the White Sox fell to 72-65. Attendance at the venue reached 21,236 fans for the contest.
Offense Ignites
Chicago took the initial lead in the third inning when Yandy Alvarez grounded into a fielder's choice, allowing Luis Robert Jr. to score. However, the momentum shifted decisively in the fourth. Chicago’s Anthony Kay exited after 4.2 innings, having allowed six hits and five earned runs.
The Astros capitalized on the relief pitching, with a series of baserunners scoring. The pivotal moment came when Velázquez hit a 415-foot home run to left field, driving in Smith to extend Houston's lead. The offensive pressure continued into the fifth inning, where Smith followed with a double to left that scored two more runners, including Alvarez and Paredes.
