Tennessee Starts Fast, Then Fades
Tennessee reached the scoreboard first Sunday, but its 3-0 lead was the Titans' only advantage in a 26-3 loss to the Houston Texans at Nissan Stadium. Joey Slye opened the scoring with a 30-yard field goal in the first period before Houston answered with a 45-yard field goal by Ka'imi Fairbairn.
The Titans were held without a point after the opening period. Cam Ward completed 23 of 36 passes for 170 yards and threw one interception, while Tony Pollard carried 14 times for 52 yards. Wan'Dale Robinson led Tennessee with six receptions for 53 yards.
Fairbairn Gives Houston Control
Fairbairn added three field goals in the second period, from 35, 26 and 53 yards. Those kicks gave Houston a 12-3 halftime lead and accounted for all of the Texans' points through two periods.
Houston finished with 3 points in the first period, 9 in the second, 7 in the third and 7 in the fourth. Tennessee's quarter-by-quarter scoring was 3, 0, 0 and 0.
