Aubrey ISD trustees will discuss and consider the naming of a district facility at a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, according to the posted agenda. The agenda does not identify the facility or any proposed name.

The meeting also includes a Team of Eight workshop, a session for the seven trustees and the superintendent working as a governing team. The board is then scheduled to go into closed session, as the Texas Open Meetings Act allows, to consult its attorney and to discuss real estate, personnel and security matters. Any action on those topics would be taken in open session afterward.

Anyone who wants to address the board about an agenda item must complete a sign-up form and turn it in to the board secretary before the meeting starts.

Four days off for students

The district calendar shows Thursday, Oct. 8, as a student holiday and a staff development day for teachers. Friday, Oct. 9, and Monday, Oct. 12, are holidays for both students and teachers, and all district offices will be closed on those two days. Students return Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Concert and homecoming

Aubrey High School's fall choir concert is scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Homecoming at the high school is Friday, Oct. 16. Preorders for this year's homecoming T-shirts, at $20 each, close Wednesday, Oct. 7, and no shirts will be sold without a preorder, the district said. Parents can pay by card through MySchoolBucks or with cash or check through the district's listed contact. Proceeds go to prom.

The shirts will carry the names of varsity football players, marching band members, the Chaparettes dance team and varsity cheerleaders on the back, and they will be delivered to campuses the Thursday before homecoming, according to the district.
