Aubrey ISD is inviting the community to put their names on a steel beam for its next elementary school.

The district says the beam signing for Elementary School #5 will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the campus under construction at 5010 FM 2931. The district has not announced a name for the school.

What is being built

A project registration filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation gives the scope of the work:

  • a two-story elementary school of about 95,000 square feet
  • room for 835 students
  • an estimated cost of $41 million
  • a construction start of March 6, 2026, and a projected completion of July 1, 2027

The state filing lists the address as 5000 FM 2931 and names the Dallas firm Corgan as the designer. The completion date in the filing is a projection, and the district has not said in its announcement when the school will open to students.

Students are still on break

Classes are out this week. The district calendar lists Oct. 8 through Oct. 13 as student holidays, a six-day break. Monday, Oct. 12, is a holiday for students and teachers, with all district offices closed, and Tuesday, Oct. 13, is set aside for parent conferences. Students return Wednesday, Oct. 14.

The school board's next meeting is Wednesday, Oct. 21, according to the district calendar. The following night, Aubrey High School's theater program opens its production of Clue.
