Aubrey ISD trustees will consider a resolution Wednesday declaring a "good cause exception" to the state's House Bill 3 requirement for armed security officers, and they are set to discuss furniture for the district's fifth elementary school, according to the agenda posted for their regular meeting.

The board meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the Aubrey ISD boardroom at 415 Tisdell. The agenda lists item titles only; no supporting documents had been posted on the district's BoardBook page as of Friday morning, so the agenda does not show which campuses the exception would cover or how the district plans to provide security instead.

The resolution is listed on the consent agenda.

Money and debt

The meeting opens with finance business. Trustees will get a finance summary report and a bank pledge report, then a quarterly report, and they will discuss the district's existing debt with its financial advisor.

The board will also hold a public hearing on the district's FIRST rating. The agenda does not say what rating the district received.

Under new business, trustees will consider a 2026-27 budget amendment and a resolution that designates investment officers and sets which training providers and brokers the district may use.

Schools and spending

Other action items include:

  • Furniture for Elementary School No. 5.
  • Technology equipment for Brockett, Monaco and West elementary schools and Aubrey High School.
  • Use of Cycle 1 money from a SAFE grant.
  • Campus improvement goals and objectives for elementary schools, and local improvement plans.

The superintendent's report will include updates on facility design and construction and on enrollment.

The consent agenda also includes adopting library books, minutes from the Sept. 16 regular meeting and the Oct. 5 Team of 8 session, and appointing members of the School Health Advisory Council.

The agenda also lists a closed session, citing sections of the Texas Government Code, on legal advice, real estate, personnel and the deployment of security personnel and devices. Trustees can act on those matters when they return to open session.

Residents who want to speak on an agenda item must fill out a sign-up form and hand it to the board secretary before the meeting starts. A separate public forum is set aside for topics not on the agenda.
