Two Aubrey firefighters were taken to hospital after a house fire on Ranch Estates Road, according to the Aubrey Fire Department.

The fire was reported at about 7:30 p.m. One other person was treated at the scene.

Several agencies assisted Aubrey at the property.

What is not known

A good deal, at this stage.

The department has not described the nature or severity of the firefighters' injuries. It has not said whether anyone was inside the house when the fire started. The cause has not been determined.

Those questions are normal to be unanswered in the hours after a working structure fire, and answers usually follow once the scene is released and an origin-and-cause examination is done.

Context

Aubrey's fire department covers a town and a large amount of surrounding Denton County land, and it relies on mutual aid from neighbouring departments for anything substantial, which is what happened here.

Denton County commissioners imposed a burn ban this week across the county's unincorporated areas, citing extreme fire danger after more than 30 days without measurable rain. Nothing released so far connects that to this fire, which was a structure fire rather than a grass fire. The two facts sit alongside each other rather than explaining one another.
