The WNBA All-Star Game has announced its starting lineup, featuring three players from the Dallas area, including standout rookie Olivia Miles from the Minnesota Lynx. The game is set to take place on July 25 at the United Center in Chicago.
Olivia Miles, a former TCU player, has made a significant impact in her rookie season, being the only first-year player among the 10 starters. She has helped lead the Lynx to the best record in the league at 15-4, despite the absence of star player Napheesa Collier due to injury. Miles is averaging 18.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game.
Joining Miles as starters are Dallas Wings players Paige Bueckers and Jessica Shepard. Bueckers, who was named Rookie of the Year last season, continues to excel in her second year, averaging 19.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.9 assists, contributing to the Wings' 11-8 record this season. Shepard, who has been a key signing for the Wings, is also having a career year, averaging 14.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 5.4 assists.
The selection process for the All-Star starters involved votes from fans, players, and media, with fans accounting for 50% of the total votes. Among guards, Miles ranked fifth with fans, first with the media, and third with players, while Bueckers was the top vote-getter among guards in all categories.
The remaining guard spots were filled by Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell from the Indiana Fever. The frontcourt starters include A’Ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Aliyah Boston, Gabby Williams, and Natasha Howard.
