TCU's 21-13 loss to Central Florida in Orlando has put added pressure on the quarterback decision as the Horned Frogs prepare for an Oct. 3 home game against No. 9 BYU. TCU is 2-2 and 0-2 against Power Four opponents after both teams opened Big 12 play.
The Horned Frogs had hoped to start 4-0 and bring ESPN's "College GameDay" to Fort Worth, but they are averaging 11.5 points per game after the first month.
Jaden Craig, a Harvard transfer, remains ahead of sophomore Adam Schobel. Schobel did not play as a freshman in 2025 and has thrown once this season. Craig has completed 45 of 72 passes for 485 yards, with two interceptions and no touchdowns, in games against North Carolina and UCF.
He also has 10 rushing attempts for minus-38 yards, with sacks included in college football rushing totals.
TCU committed 11 penalties for 86 yards against UCF, finished two turnovers behind the Knights and averaged 1.2 yards per rushing attempt. The report said Craig has received limited help from receivers but has struggled when the pocket breaks down. His compensation, which is higher than Schobel's, adds a financial and personnel issue to the decision.
