The Houston Texans are 0-2 after a 20-6 home defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals and are evaluating their offensive line before Sunday’s AFC South opener against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Coach DeMeco Ryans discussed the situation Wednesday at the Houston Methodist Training Center.
Houston allowed pressure on 45.5% of C.J. Stroud’s dropbacks when Cincinnati used man coverage. The Texans also had 12 rushing attempts for 18 yards.
Right tackle Trent Brown faced scrutiny for his performance against the Bengals’ pass rush. Blake Fisher, a 2024 second-round selection from Notre Dame, is a possible replacement after displaying mobility and strength in training camp. Wyatt Teller could also take on a full-time guard role beside rookie center Keylan Rutledge.
Houston has not announced whether Fisher or Teller will start against Indianapolis.
The Colts placed wide receiver Alec Pierce on injured reserve because of a heel injury, coach Shane Steichen said. Indianapolis signed veteran receiver Darius Slayton and put Eli Pancol on its practice squad. Josh Downs, Keenan Allen and rookie tight end Tyler Warren remain receiving options, and Taylor is described as an underneath threat.
Houston is still waiting for Nico Collins’ official status because of a hamstring issue.
