North Texas has confirmed that Tayven Jackson will be the starting quarterback for their upcoming game against Indiana University, ranked No. 6. This game will take place at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana, marking IU's first regular season game of the year.

Jackson, who has a history with the Hoosiers, played for Indiana University for two seasons before transferring to the University of Central Florida for the 2025 season. He previously played at Tennessee in 2022 and had an impressive career at Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana. At UCF, he recorded 2,151 passing yards, along with 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.

In addition to his football achievements, Jackson has a family connection to IU; he is the sibling of Trayce Jackson-Davis, a former basketball player for the university. Trayce has expressed his intention to attend the game to support his brother.

This matchup also marks IU's first game since they celebrated their national championship victory in January.
