The Houston Cougars have strengthened their defensive lineup by signing Myles Rowser, a safety who previously played for the Arizona State Sun Devils. This move comes in light of new NCAA eligibility rules that allow players from the class of 2022, who did not redshirt or sign a professional NFL contract, to gain an additional season of eligibility.
Rowser did not redshirt during his freshman year and played in nine games for the Campbell Camels. He attended a rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks but did not sign a professional contract. His collegiate experience includes time at Campbell in 2022, New Mexico State in 2023, and Arizona State from 2024 to 2025.
Over his career, he has recorded 295 total tackles, with notable statistics including 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and two interceptions.
In the 2025 season, Rowser played in every game for Arizona State, achieving a career-high of 84 tackles. His performance earned him a spot on the All-Big 12 Third Team. The Cougars' safety position already features veterans Kentrell Webb and Jordan Allen, who had 71 and 48 tackles respectively last season, alongside new addition Javion White from Tulane, who made 50 tackles last year.
Rowser's arrival may lead to adjustments in the lineup, enhancing the Cougars' competitiveness in the Big 12.
