The Houston Texans have received encouraging updates on wide receiver Tank Dell's recovery from a severe knee injury. However, general manager Nick Caserio has stressed that the team will not rush his return.
Dell, currently on Reserve/Injured with a designation to return, is set to miss a minimum of four games this season as he heals from a dislocated kneecap and multiple ligament tears he suffered in December 2024.
Caserio mentioned that while Dell is making progress compared to the beginning of training camp, he still needs to regain his top-end speed, which is vital for his playing style. Improvements have been noted in his quickness and route-running, but the Texans are committed to ensuring he can perform at the high speeds necessary for success in the NFL.
Before his injury, Dell had become a significant asset for quarterback C.J. Stroud, achieving 98 receptions for 1,376 yards and 10 touchdowns across his first two seasons. His ability to stretch the field and create opportunities for other receivers is something the Texans are eager to restore as they navigate the early part of the season without him.
In Dell's absence, other receivers like Boutte and Noel will have the chance to step up and develop chemistry with Stroud, allowing the team to evaluate its offensive needs while Dell focuses on regaining his explosive capabilities.
