TCU has announced the dismissal of safety Jacob Fields from its football roster, occurring less than two weeks before the season opener against North Carolina. This decision follows a reported physical altercation in the locker room on August 13, as detailed in the TCU crime and fire log.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the incident was classified as aggravated assault. Sources indicated that Fields engaged in a confrontation with an offensive teammate and had previously experienced hostility from his peers, including derogatory remarks and threats, with some incidents involving being spat on.
Before the altercation, Fields had attempted to communicate with the coaching staff regarding rising tensions but reportedly received no feedback. He transferred to TCU from Louisiana Tech this offseason, where he was anticipated to be the starting free safety. In 2025, Fields earned recognition as the Co-Defensive Player of the Year in Conference USA, having played all 12 games for Louisiana Tech.
