Caden Powell, a native of Waco, is set to rejoin the Baylor basketball team for the 2026-27 season, following a recent court injunction in Ohio. Powell, who has previously played for Wyoming and Rice, joined Baylor last season and transitioned from a backup center to a starter due to team injuries.
This season's Baylor roster is being reshaped under head coach Scott Drew, who aims to create a deeper team capable of lasting through the entire season and competing effectively. Powell's return is seen as a significant advantage, enhancing the team's depth chart.
Although Powell may not start immediately, he is expected to contribute significantly off the bench, bringing valuable defensive skills and a lob threat to the Bears. The projected depth chart includes guards Kayden Mingo and Dylan Mingo as starters, with Powell listed in the rotation alongside senior Juslin Bodo Bodo, who is expected to start at center.
