The Houston Texans are preparing for their preseason matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders on August 20, facing challenges due to the recent loss of wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who suffered a torn ACL that will keep him out for the entire season. This injury poses a significant hurdle for the team as they work to solidify their offensive strategy.

Despite the setback, quarterback C.J. Stroud is expected to participate in the game, playing a few series, potentially up to 25 plays. The first-string offensive line is anticipated to start, while the first-team defense will not be on the field.

With Higgins sidelined, Stroud will rely heavily on wide receiver Nico Collins, who had an impressive season last year with 71 receptions for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns. Other receivers, including Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, and Jaylin Noel, will also be called upon to contribute in Higgins' absence.

Dell, who missed last season due to injury, had previously developed a strong rapport with Stroud, while Noel was drafted shortly after Higgins and played alongside him at Iowa State. The Texans aim to navigate these changes as they prepare for the upcoming season.
