Texas A&M will keep Marcel Reed as its starting quarterback for now, despite the No. 23 Aggies’ 35-6 defeat against No. 10 LSU. Asked if Reed could be benched, coach Mike Elko answered, “No.” TexAgs posted the exchange on X, and Yahoo Sports reported it.
Reed completed 10 of 26 throws for 106 yards against LSU and had one interception. His 38.4% completion rate was reported as possibly the lowest of his college career. Through four games, he has produced 738 passing yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions. He has completed 55.4% of his attempts, a career-low rate, while adding 104 yards and one rushing touchdown.
That production is below Reed’s previous season totals, when he passed for 3,169 yards and 25 touchdowns. Texas A&M’s next game is against Arkansas in Week 5. The Razorbacks also are 2-2, and the matchup is scheduled for Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. EST.
