The Houston Texans have added wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley to their practice squad, according to a report by The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov on August 31. Tinsley, who is 6 feet 1 inch tall and 26 years old, was formerly with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he made eight receptions for 116 yards and scored two touchdowns last season.
His exit from Cincinnati follows the team's strong wide receiver lineup, leading to interest from several franchises.
The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. remarked that Tinsley likely perceives a greater chance for playing time in Houston, particularly as the Texans have been actively looking to strengthen their wide receiver lineup this month. Tinsley now joins Lewis Bond and Josh Kelly on the Texans' practice squad, as detailed by Sleeper affiliate Jacob Barzilla.
He had an impressive preseason in 2025, which contributed to his initial placement on the Bengals' roster.
Tinsley, who went undrafted, has started four games in 19 regular-season appearances. He is known as a possession receiver with strong ball-handling skills, though he may struggle with speed and quickness for separation.
NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein noted that Tinsley excels at making challenging catches, especially in the middle of the field, despite some athletic limitations that may restrict him to a zone-beating position in the slot.
