Baylor University has confirmed the signing of Gao Duanrui to its women's tennis team for the 2026-27 season. Head coach Joey Scrivano praised Duanrui for her strong work ethic, mental toughness, and commitment to improvement.
Duanrui, from Tianjin, China, has reached career-high rankings of No. 1,186 in singles and No. 1,435 in doubles on the WTA tour. She has recorded 52 singles victories, with significant wins at the 2026 M15 Tianjin and the 2025 W15 Luan and Maanshan tournaments.
In doubles, she has made it to the quarterfinals five times, including at the 2026 W15 Tianjin and three draws at the 2025 W15 Luan, as well as a quarterfinal finish at the 2025 W15 Maanshan.
The Baylor women's tennis team finished the 2025 season ranked No. 34 in the ITA Year-End team rankings. This marked their 27th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their 19th trip to the second round, alongside four All-Big 12 selections, three ranked victories, and two players qualifying for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
