Early Surge Fades
The Detroit Tigers built a commanding 5-0 lead in the second inning, only to watch it evaporate as the Texas Rangers mounted a decisive offensive rally. Despite the early deficit, the Tigers’ pitching staff held firm through five innings, but a barrage of runs in the middle and late innings ultimately sealed a 10-4 loss for Detroit on Friday at Globe Life Field.
Detroit took control early. In the second inning, Díaz launched a 414-foot home run to left center, putting the Tigers ahead 1-0. The lead extended when Jung walked, allowing Osuna to score for a 2-0 advantage. Duran followed with a sacrifice fly to right, bringing Lopez home to make it 3-0. The Tigers added two more runs in the fourth inning when Jung doubled to left, scoring Lopez, and Duran singled to center to bring Jung home, establishing a 5-0 cushion.
Rangers Rally Back
Texas began chipping away at the deficit in the fifth inning. Keith homered to right center, cutting the gap to 5-1. The Rangers then exploded for three runs in the frame. Lee homered to left center, scoring McKinstry, to make it 5-3. Smith followed with a 406-foot home run to right, narrowing the margin to 5-4. In the seventh inning, the Rangers took the lead. Osuna singled to left, scoring Carter, and Lopez singled to right, bringing Osuna home to make it 7-5. Smith reached on an infield single to shortstop, allowing Osuna to score again for an 8-5 advantage.
