Burger Powers Rangers Past Mariners

Jake Burger delivered the decisive offensive performance for the Texas Rangers on Saturday, homering twice and recording three runs batted in to lead his team to a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Field. The win improved the Rangers' record to 52-51, while the Mariners fell to 51-53.

Burger's impact was immediate in the fourth inning. With the score tied at 3-3, he launched a 362-foot home run to right field, giving Texas a 3-1 lead. Duran crossed the plate on the same play.

Burger added to his total in the sixth inning with a single to center field that brought Nimmo home, extending the Rangers' advantage to 4-3. His RBI count was finalized when Carter scored on a sacrifice bunt by Lopez later in the same frame, making it 5-3.

Mariners Fight Back

Seattle had taken an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Langford homered 384 feet to left field. The Mariners tied the game at 1-1 in the second when We. Wilson singled to right, allowing Naylor to score while Young advanced to third.

Seattle regained the lead in the fifth inning. Canzone doubled to center field, driving in both Arozarena and Emerson to make the score 3-3. The Mariners added another run in the sixth when Burger's single allowed Nimmo to score, followed by Carter scoring on Lopez's sacrifice bunt, putting Seattle ahead 5-3.

Late Innings and Pitching

The Rangers chipped away at the deficit in the ninth inning. Emerson scored on a wild pitch by Jacob Latz, narrowing the gap to 5-4. However, the Mariners were unable to tie the game, and the Rangers held on for the win.

MacKenzie Gore started for Texas, pitching five innings and allowing seven hits and three earned runs while striking out five batters. He was supported by Peyton Gray, who earned the win with one scoreless inning of work, striking out two. Jakob Junis and Tyler Alexander provided relief, each recording a save situation appearance.

Cole Winn also pitched a scoreless frame. Jacob Latz secured the save, his 20th of the season, despite allowing one hit and one earned run in his inning of work.

For Seattle, Bryce Miller took the loss, giving up six hits and five earned runs over 5.1 innings. Eduard Bazardo and Michael Rucker combined for two scoreless innings, with Rucker striking out three batters.

The game drew an attendance of 33,478 fans to the Arlington venue.
