Rangers Start Strong
The Texas Rangers jumped out to an early advantage, capitalizing on a defensive lapse by Oakland in the first inning. Cortes doubled to right field, driving in Gelof, Wilson, and Soderstrom to give Texas a quick 3-0 lead. The Athletics’ starter, Gage Jump, struggled to contain the offense, allowing three earned runs over his five-and-a-third innings of work.
He surrendered four hits and walked four batters while striking out only one. Despite the early deficit, Jump managed to keep the game close through the middle innings.
Texas Responds in Sixth
The Rangers’ offense finally found its rhythm in the sixth inning. Burger launched a 428-foot home run to center field, bringing Seager and Duran home to tie the game at 3-3. McNeil followed with a solo shot to right field, giving Texas a 4-3 lead.
However, the momentum shifted again when Butler hit a 411-foot homer to center in the seventh inning, extending the Rangers’ advantage to 5-3. The pitching staff held firm for two more innings, with Chase Silseth earning the loss after allowing an earned run in his one-inning appearance.
Robby Ahlstrom and Tyler Alexander also contributed, though Alexander gave up two runs in just one-third of an inning.
