Rangers Offense Struggles to Keep Pace
The Texas Rangers entered Thursday’s contest at Angel Stadium hoping to turn their season around, but they found themselves on the wrong side of a 5-2 final score against the Los Angeles Angels. Despite a strong start by their pitching staff, the Rangers could not overcome a pivotal sixth inning where the Angels broke open a tied game.
Texas took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when Pederson drew a walk, allowing Carter to score from first base while Lopez and Díaz advanced to second and third, respectively. The Rangers added to their advantage in the third inning when Corey Seager homered to right field, measuring 378 feet.
This blast gave Texas a 2-0 edge, showcasing the team's ability to generate power at the plate.
However, the Angels responded immediately. In the same third inning, Mike Trout singled to center field, driving in Guzman to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Rangers managed to maintain their lead through the middle innings, relying on a solid outing from Cal Quantrill, who pitched five innings, allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out six batters.
Robby Ahlstrom, Peyton Gray, and Ben Peoples also contributed, though Ahlstrom took the loss after allowing three earned runs in his brief appearance.
Angels Rally in the Sixth
The game shifted dramatically in the sixth inning. With the score tied at 2-2 after Steven Siri doubled to left to score Grissom, the Angels took the lead. Guzman followed with a sacrifice bunt that allowed Siri to score, making it 2-3. Trout then singled to center again, scoring Peraza to extend the advantage to 2-4.
