The 1967 film "Bonnie and Clyde" put Pilot Point's Farmers & Merchants Bank on screen, and on Saturday the Denton County town will stage that holdup again, twice.

The 15th annual Bonnie & Clyde Days runs from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, on the historic Pilot Point square, according to the city of Pilot Point, whose Main Street program hosts the festival.

The film, starring Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty, shot its bank robbery scene at the F&M Bank building, and the city notes that the real Bonnie and Clyde and their gang spent time in the area.

Saturday's schedule

  • 2 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.: bank robbery reenactments at the F&M Bank building
  • 2:30 p.m.: Vince Lujan on the main stage
  • 3:30 p.m.: Taylor Swift look-alike contest, with online registration
  • 4 p.m.: Texoma Pro Wrestling, in a ring beside the Community Services Building, and a pie-eating contest on the main stage
  • 4:30 p.m.: a music performance by the Starbright Center for the Arts
  • 5 p.m.: Apex Tumbling
  • 5:30 p.m.: Reputation, a Taylor Swift tribute band
  • 7:30 p.m.: Hotel Mac Doobie, a classic rock tribute band

Around the square

A Kids Zone in the City Hall parking lot runs from 2 to 7 p.m. and includes an obstacle course. Model A cars will line Main Street, and a beer and wine garden stays open all afternoon and evening.

From 2 to 6 p.m., the Clifton & Nadene Irick Museum is open, the Friends of the Library hold a book sale at the Pilot Point Community Library, and Carter BloodCare takes donors at the Pilot Point Community Center, with online sign-ups available.

Craft and food vendors listed by the city range from freeze-dried candy and pressed-flower jewelry to sno cones and fruit cups.

The day starts with the Pilot Point Chamber's first 5K, which opens check-in at 6:30 a.m. and starts at 8 a.m.; the city's page lists Oct. 4 as the registration deadline.
