Chaparrals erase 14-point deficit to beat Springtown and stay perfect in district

Aubrey rallied from 14-0 down at halftime for a 21-14 win Friday at Chaparral Stadium, moving to 2-0 in District 4-4A Division I ahead of a trip to face No. 3 Decatur.

Aubrey trailed Springtown 14-0 at halftime Friday night. By the final whistle the Chaparrals had answered with 21 unanswered points for a 21-14 District 4-4A Division I win at Chaparral Stadium, according to the Denton Record-Chronicle.

The go-ahead score came late: a 2-yard touchdown run with 2:16 left in the fourth quarter, after which Aubrey's defense held on.

The win lifts Aubrey to 2-3 overall and 2-0 in district play and keeps the Chaparrals unbeaten in league games despite a losing overall record. The win leaves Aubrey 2-0 in district play. Springtown fell to 1-4 and 0-2.

Next up: a ranked Decatur

The schedule stiffens immediately. Aubrey's next game is Friday, Oct. 9, against Decatur, which the Record-Chronicle lists as No. 3 and unbeaten at 5-0, 2-0 in district.

The comeback capped a busy Friday for Denton County programs; the Record-Chronicle's week 6 roundup also had Denton High beating Azle 49-6.
