Aubrey, Texas — The Texas Longhorns received a major Fourth of July boost when Gilmer offensive tackle Ismael Camara announced his commitment to the program. The consensus five-star prospect is the No. 20 overall recruit and the No. 3 offensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite rankings for the 2027 class.

Camara, who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 340 pounds, chose Texas over a list of finalists that included Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, SMU, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. The native of France moved to East Texas and played his first varsity season last fall, drawing nearly forty scholarship offers.

Despite limited varsity experience, Camara earned his five-star rating through prototypical size, athleticism, and strength. He played left tackle, along the defensive line, and on special teams for Gilmer in 2025 and is expected to take on an expanded role as a senior this fall.

Aubrey, in northern Denton County, is in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex where Texas Longhorns football has a dedicated following.
