The City of Aubrey is signing up volunteers to host decorated trunks at this year's Haunted Harvest, and it is telling would-be participants to register early because space is limited.

Haunted Harvest takes place Saturday, Oct. 31, in Historic Downtown Aubrey. Trunk-or-treat starts at 5:30 p.m. in the new parking lot behind Veterans Memorial Park, according to the city's Parks and Recreation event page.

On the schedule

  • Haunted hayride through the evening's activities.
  • A Halloween movie shown inside the bay of Fire Station No. 1, 200 Sycamore St., starting at 6 p.m.
  • Contests for costumes and for registered trunk decorations.
  • Food trucks on site.

People who register a trunk must bring their own candy or giveaways, and the city asks them to arrive early enough to set up before trick-or-treating begins at 5:30. Costumes are strongly encouraged. The sign-up form is linked from the event page on the city website.

Veterans event a week later

The city's next downtown event is Aubrey For Veterans on Saturday, Nov. 7, the second year for the gathering at Veterans Memorial Park. It begins at 10 a.m. The city lists patriotic music, an MRE eating contest and chances to honor service members, with a presentation of colors still to be announced.

Legion of Legends - Cornhole is running a tournament that day with beginner and advanced divisions. Entry costs $20 per person or $40 per team. The city says more details are coming and that questions can go to events@aubreytx.gov.

After that, the annual Christmas tree lighting is set for Saturday, Dec. 5, and the city has opened vendor applications for it.
