The Aubrey Area Library lent out 129,959 items in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, according to a 13-month data report included in the Providence Village Town Council's packet for its Tuesday night meeting.
The report, part of the town manager's monthly staff reports, counts 41,287 patron visits and 1,433 new library cards over the year. The library was open 242 days and 1,991 hours.
Summer drove the peak
Use climbed through the spring and peaked in July, when the library recorded 14,090 checkouts and 5,200 patron visits, both the highest of any month. June was close behind with 13,776 checkouts. September's 11,193 checkouts were up slightly from 10,929 a year earlier, and visits rose to 3,230 from 3,098.
The report lists 1,033 participants in the reading program over the year, with a note that the July summer reading total was 862.
Mostly children's books
Children's and youth materials made up the bulk of physical lending. Of 107,556 adult and juvenile items checked out, 90,504 were juvenile materials, about 84%.
Digital borrowing added 7,788 e-book loans and 14,615 e-audiobook loans, for 22,403 in all. The library also logged 2,910 public computer sessions, 1,812 interlibrary loan items shipped and 1,469 received.
