Late Surge Secures Victory
The Houston Astros overcame a four-run deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Angels 6-4 on Tuesday at Angel Stadium. The victory improved Houston’s record to 53-55, while the Angels fell to 42-65.
Early Angels Lead
Los Angeles established control early, taking a 4-0 lead by the end of the third inning. In the first, Michael Trout scored on a sacrifice fly by Spencer Schanuel, and later on a single by Grissom. Grissom extended the lead in the third with a home run to left-center field. Adam Adell added an RBI double to make it 4-0 before Houston responded.
Trammell cut the deficit in the fourth with a home run to center. Alvarez provided a run in the eighth with a single that scored Peña, making the score 4-2.
Ninth-Inning Rally
The game turned in the ninth when Houston scored four runs. Spence reached base and scored on an error by second baseman Grissom. Paredes was hit by a pitch, allowing Spence to score despite a challenge by the Angels. Wade Jr. walked, bringing in another run. Finally, Alvarez scored on an error by pitcher Sam Bachman, completing the comeback.
