Rangers’ Early Lead Vanishes Quickly
The Texas Rangers held a slim 3-0 advantage through the top of the second inning before the Houston Astros’ offense began its relentless assault. Wade Jr. opened the scoring for Texas with a double that drove in Trammell, followed by Alvarez’s single that brought in Diaz and Wade Jr. to extend the lead to 3-0. However, that margin proved fleeting.
In the fourth inning, Texas managed to add another run when Peña’s single scored Smith, making the score 4-0 in favor of Houston.
Astros’ Power Display Dominates the Middle Innings
Houston’s bats woke up in the fifth inning, turning a 4-0 deficit into a 6-4 lead in a matter of moments. Paredes launched a 395-foot home run to left, and Walker followed with a 428-foot shot to left center. The momentum shifted decisively in the sixth inning when Pederson hit a 399-foot home run to right center, cutting the deficit to 6-1.
Carter’s single later in the frame scored Seager, bringing the score to 6-2 and keeping the Rangers’ hopes alive, albeit thin.
Late Inning Surge Seals the Win
The Astros pulled away in the seventh inning with a barrage of offense. Diaz homered to left center, extending the lead to 7-2. Peña then doubled to left, scoring both Smith and Spence to make it 9-2.
