Trammell’s three-run homer pushes Astros past Blue Jays 7-2

Toronto got even in the fifth inning, but Trammell changed the game with the only home run as the Astros beat the Blue Jays 7-2 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Daikin Park.

Astros take the first lead

Diaz put the Astros ahead in the fourth with a single to left that scored Altuve and moved Trammell to second. Smith added another run with a single to left, with Trammell scoring on a throwing error by left fielder Sánchez as Smith reached second and Diaz reached third on the error.

That made it 2-0 before the Blue Jays answered in the next inning.

Blue Jays tie it, Trammell answers

Toronto’s scoring came in the fifth. Straw tripled to center to bring in Giménez, then Straw scored on a wild pitch by Hayden Wesneski to tie the game at 2.

The Astros regained the lead in their half of the fifth. Altuve reached on an infield single to shortstop, scoring Alvarez and moving Walker to second. Trammell then homered to right, a 388-foot drive that scored Walker and Altuve and stretched the lead to 6-2.

Altuve added the final run in the seventh with a single to center that scored Walker. Altuve had two run-scoring singles, while Trammell’s three-run homer accounted for the game’s lone home run.

Pitching lines

Wesneski earned the win for the Astros, allowing four hits and two earned runs with two walks and four strikeouts in six innings. Bennett Sousa pitched one inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and one strikeout, and Enyel De Los Santos worked two innings with one hit, no earned runs, no walks and one strikeout.

Chad Dallas took the loss for Toronto, giving up seven hits and six earned runs with four walks and three strikeouts in three innings. Trey Yesavage pitched two innings with no hits, no earned runs, one walk and no strikeouts.
