Law enforcement personnel remain at a Providence Village residence in Aubrey as a hostage situation extends into its second day. The incident began late Monday when a man called 911 to report he was detaining two women and threatened to kill them if officers approached the home.
Aubrey Police Chief Richard Brooks confirmed that negotiators, supported by the FBI, are working to resolve the crisis. A major development occurred just after 1 a.m. Tuesday when a juvenile girl was released from the property. Her release provided investigators with critical details that prompted the deployment of additional resources, including SWAT teams.
Residents in the area were ordered to shelter in place while the standoff continued. Local parents expressed fear and anxiety as they watched heavy police activity unfold. Aubrey ISD granted excused absences to students whose families were affected by the shelter-in-place order. Officials stated their primary goal remains a peaceful resolution, with medics kept on standby at the scene.
