Communities throughout Denton County have scheduled a range of Independence Day celebrations for the upcoming holiday. The events span multiple cities, featuring parades, live musical performances, and fireworks displays.
In Denton, the annual Yankee Doodle Parade is set for Saturday, July 4, at 9 a.m. The procession begins at the Denton Development Services Center at 401 N. Elm St., travels south along Elm Street, circles the Courthouse on the Square, and returns to the starting point. Organizers suggest attendees wear red, white, and blue clothing. Later that evening, the Denton Noon Kiwanis Club will host its Independence Day fireworks show at the North Texas Fairgrounds, located at 2217 N. Carroll Blvd. Gates open at 6 p.m. The event serves as a major fundraiser for the Denton Kiwanis Children’s Clinic. While admission is free, parking costs $10 per vehicle, and VIP tables are available for $360. The Raised Right Men will perform live music starting at 7 p.m., with fireworks scheduled for 9:30 p.m.
Sanger will hold its Freedom Fest earlier in the week on Saturday, June 27, at 5 p.m. at Porter Park, 2201 S. Stemmons St. The free event includes water slides, carnival rides, a petting zoo, and a roller coaster. The evening will feature live performances, food vendors, and a music-choreographed fireworks display. Free shuttle service is available, as parking at the park is not permitted.
The cities of Lake Dallas, Corinth, Hickory Creek, and Shady Shores are jointly hosting the Lake Cities 4th of July event at Lake Dallas City Park, 101 E. Hundley Drive, on Saturday, June 27, starting at 4 p.m. Due to road construction, there will be no parade. Live entertainment begins at 4 p.m. with tribute band Fleetwood Journey and disco band Le Freak. Fireworks are expected at 9 p.m. Alcohol and outside fireworks are prohibited, and pets must be leashed.
In Lewisville, the Red, White & Lewisville event takes place on Wednesday, July 1, at 6:30 p.m. at Wayne Ferguson Plaza, 150 W. Church St. Part of the summer Sounds of Lewisville Concert Series, the free event features tribute band Texas Flood and country singer Justin Till. The highlight is a drone show combined with fireworks sponsored by the Denton County Transportation Authority, starting at 9:35 p.m. Complimentary shuttles are recommended due to street closures.
