The Flower Mound chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host The American Revolution Experience at the Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square. The exhibit runs from Monday, July 27 through Wednesday, August 12. It is co-hosted by the Denton County Historical Commission. Admission is free for all attendees.
Denton is about 11 miles southwest of Aubrey. The traveling display features 14 panels, including 12 national sections, a panel focused on Texas during the Revolutionary War, and a chapter-specific pop-up panel. Interactive digital kiosks are also included to explore the people, events, and ideals of the era.
The event begins with a formal opening reception at 5 p.m. on July 27. The ceremony includes a ribbon-cutting, remarks from community leaders and chapter representatives, a color guard presentation, and guided tours of the exhibit.
Flower Mound Mayor Cheryl Moore issued a proclamation for the town’s DAR chapter during a council meeting on June 15. She stated the milestone allows Americans to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of the nation’s founders. Moore emphasized the importance of preserving American history to inspire civic responsibility and unity in future generations.
Samantha Barnes, the America250! Chair for the Flower Mound chapter, expressed gratitude to the town for its support. She noted that the original patriots endured significant hardships, including harsh winters and the loss of family members, to preserve freedom. Barnes said the organization carries this legacy with pride.
