Denton County held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday at Braswell High School to officially mark the completion of the U.S. 380 corridor improvement project. The event took place in the school’s parking lot, bringing together county leadership, state representatives, and local officials to celebrate the finished infrastructure work.
The $160.6 million initiative began in January 2019 and spans from Loop 288 to west of County Road 26 on the Collin County Line. Denton is about 11 miles southwest of Aubrey. The construction included raising medians, adding left and right turn lanes, widening roads, and creating five grade separations at major crossings to improve traffic flow and safety.
County Judge Andy Eads, along with Commissioners Ryan Williams, Kevin W. Falconer, and Bobbie J. Mitchell, participated in the ceremony. Judge Eads noted that upgrading major thoroughfares requires collaboration across state, regional, and local levels to meet the transportation needs of a population growing by approximately 90 people daily.
Commissioner Williams thanked the various partners involved, including cities, school districts, the Texas Department of Transportation, and state representatives. He stated that the project has improved mobility, enhanced safety, and increased pedestrian access to businesses and schools in the area.
Commissioner Falconer reflected on the region’s transformation from a rural area with gravel trucks to a major retail and residential hub. He expressed happiness that the project was completed, noting that traffic flow along the still-developing corridor is now significantly smoother.
