The Dallas Cowboys are turning to rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham to communicate defensive calls when they meet the Washington Commanders in Week 2, according to sportingnews.com. Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Barham is set to wear the green dot for Sunday’s game.
The assignment follows Dallas’ 28- point defeat against the New York Giants in Week 1. The Cowboys had difficulty limiting the Giants’ offense in that loss. Defensive coordinator Christian Parker made the communication change as Dallas prepares for Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Barham was selected in the third round out of Michigan. His new responsibility will be part of the Cowboys’ NFC East matchup with Washington, which also opened the season with a loss to a division opponent.
