Jacob Fields, a former safety for TCU, has been charged with aggravated assault after an incident in a locker room on August 13. The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office filed the charge on September 23, alleging that Fields either intentionally or recklessly caused significant injury to TCU wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma.
The complaint details that Fields allegedly struck Ezukanma in the head and may have kicked him while he was on the ground. Ezukanma reportedly experienced a concussion and was hospitalized for three days due to a brain bleed linked to the incident. Witnesses stated that Fields hit Ezukanma from behind, resulting in the wide receiver losing consciousness.
Following the altercation, Fields surrendered to law enforcement on August 30. He was removed from the TCU football team shortly after the incident, on August 18. Fields later sent a message to Ezukanma expressing remorse for his actions. The altercation reportedly arose from Fields' frustration with his practice performance.
Fields' agent, Philip Miller, issued a statement in support of him, highlighting the need to defend oneself. Additional details surrounding the incident have not been made public.
