Baylor has lost two starters for the season after defensive lineman Devonte Tezino suffered a leg injury against Prairie View A&M on Saturday. Safety Jacob Redding is the other player identified as having a season-ending injury. SicEm365 reported the injury and head coach Dave Aranda’s comments.
Tezino was hurt on Baylor’s second offensive play from scrimmage when a Prairie View A&M offensive lineman made a cut block. He called for medical personnel and was later taken from the field by cart. Aranda confirmed after the game that Tezino would miss the rest of the season and said the fifth-year senior had been playing the best football of his career.
The Killeen native began this season with two sacks and a tipped pass that led to an interception against Auburn. He missed time with injuries last fall but played in all 12 games, starting seven. Tezino finished that season with 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup.
In 29 games at Baylor, he has made 56 tackles. Baylor has depth on its defensive line despite the loss.
