Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to sit out the team’s game with Louisiana Tech because of an ankle injury. His status for the Sept. 26 Big 12 opener against Colorado remains unconfirmed, although Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported that Lagway is “on track to return” for the matchup involving Colorado and coach Deion Sanders.

Lagway was injured in Baylor’s season-opening 17-16 defeat against Auburn. Sources told On3 Sports that the junior sustained a high-ankle sprain, while coach Dave Aranda characterized him as day-to-day earlier in the week.

The quarterback was absent from Baylor’s following game, a 44-3 win over Prairie View. The Bears are scheduled to play Louisiana Tech before meeting Colorado. ClutchPoints reported that the timing of Lagway’s comeback is still unclear, with the only indication being that his recovery is advancing toward the Colorado contest. The On3 report did not establish whether he will play.
