Central Hall, the 1902 building on Pilot Point's square that the town's Municipal Development District operates and rents out, is one of the finalists for a 2026 Texas Downtown President's Award, according to a staff report prepared for the district's board.
The hall is competing in the category for the best rehabilitation, restoration or renovation in towns of fewer than 50,000 people. The Texas Downtown Association told finalists they had been chosen from 155 entries, and winners will be announced at the group's awards gala Wednesday, Nov. 4, in Amarillo, economic development director Denise Morris wrote in her Oct. 30 report.
Bookings and the bottom line
The development board meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Pilot Point City Hall, and its packet shows the hall is still well short of covering its costs.
Through Sept. 30, the end of the 2026 budget year, Central Hall brought in $4,495, against $15,000 the district had budgeted. That included $3,400 from outside bookings and $1,095 from internal events. Spending on the building ran to $34,688, above the $25,000 set aside.
Marketing coordinator Ty McConn reported more interest this fall. He wrote that he signed four rental contracts over September and October, lined up two upcoming performances, and hosted an October wedding at the hall. The district also bought tables and chairs that renters can use for a fee.
