Hunters around Aubrey get a crowded calendar this coming Saturday, Nov. 7, when several Texas seasons open at once in Denton County, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's 2026-27 county regulations.
White-tailed deer
Archery-only deer season, which began Oct. 3, runs through Friday, Nov. 6. The general season, which allows firearms, opens Saturday and runs through Jan. 3. An early youth-only season ends Sunday, Nov. 1, and a late youth-only season and a special late season both run Jan. 4 to 17.
During the special late season, hunters may take only antlerless deer and bucks with an unbranched antler.
The Denton County limit is four deer for all seasons combined, with no more than two bucks and no more than two antlerless. Of the two bucks, only one may have an inside antler spread of 13 inches or more. A legal buck must have at least one unbranched antler or a spread of at least 13 inches.
Hunters do not need a Managed Lands Deer Program tag to take antlerless deer unless such tags have been issued for the property they are hunting. Where they have been issued, every deer covered must be tagged.
Turkey
Fall turkey hunting, archery-only since Oct. 3, opens to all legal means Saturday and runs through Jan. 3. The limit is four turkeys, gobblers or bearded hens, and the four-bird annual limit applies across all counties combined. Harvests must be reported through the Texas Hunt & Fish app or online.
