P.J. Locke suffered a foot injury during Washington’s opening possession of the Dallas Cowboys’ home opener against the Commanders, adding to the team’s defensive issues. It happened in Locke’s second game with Dallas.
A FOX replay appeared to show Locke limping as he moved toward a tackle, before he made contact with another player. Training staff assisted him off the field, and reports cited by Sports Illustrated said Locke reached the locker room without assistance.
Dallas had already ruled out safety Malik Hooker because of a forearm injury. The Cowboys signed Locke to a one-year contract worth $4 million during the offseason, following his first six NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos. He made two tackles in Dallas’ season-opening loss to the New York Giants. Sports Illustrated described the injury report as breaking news that could receive further updates.
