DJ Lagway is considered doubtful for Baylor’s Saturday game against Louisiana Tech, but a report says the quarterback could return for the Bears’ Sept. 26 Big 12 opener against Colorado. The road matchup at Baylor is scheduled for 10 a.m. MT, and Colorado is set to play Northwestern before traveling to Waco.
Lagway hurt his ankle in Baylor’s 17-16 season-opening loss to Auburn. He completed the game with 333 yards passing, two touchdown throws and an interception. A wrap could be seen around the injured ankle afterward. Baylor coach Dave Aranda said Lagway felt good at Sunday practice, and the quarterback was expected to participate with the team during the week.
The injury kept Lagway out of Baylor’s 44-3 win over Prairie View A&M. Nate Bennett started and completed 24 of 36 passes for 314 yards, adding three passing touchdowns and a rushing score. Bennett could make consecutive starts against Louisiana Tech.
