Baylor University quarterback DJ Lagway is currently listed as day-to-day following an ankle injury, according to head coach Dave Aranda. The decision regarding Lagway's participation in the upcoming game against Prairie View A&M will hinge on his performance during practice this week.
In his debut with Baylor, Lagway completed 27 of 54 passes for 333 yards, recording two touchdowns alongside one interception in a close 17-16 loss to Auburn. The Bears' inability to convert a critical two-point attempt late in the game contributed to their defeat.
Auburn head coach Alex Golesh commended Lagway's toughness, highlighting his determination to continue playing despite the injury. Lagway, who transferred to Baylor after two seasons with the Florida Gators, was a highly regarded recruit, ranked No. 3 in his class. He initially started for Florida but opted to transfer following the dismissal of head coach Billy Napier.
During his time at Florida, Lagway had a challenging season, finishing with 2,264 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. Former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow noted that Lagway needed a fresh start and expressed optimism about his potential at Baylor, suggesting he would play with more joy and perform to the best of his ability.
