George Pickens has made the move from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Dallas Cowboys, as explained by former Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. On The Rich Eisen Show, Tomlin indicated that the decision stemmed more from Pickens' personal growth than his abilities on the field.
Tomlin acknowledged Pickens' potential to excel but expressed worries regarding his development in areas beyond mere statistics. He noted that a lucrative second contract entails responsibilities that extend beyond performance alone. Tomlin stated, "For us, I just thought, it's not only play. It's development in other areas, intangible areas."
ESPN insider Dan Graziano pointed out that other teams showed little interest in signing Pickens to an offer sheet after the Cowboys applied the non-exclusive franchise tag on him. This situation has led to speculation that teams may be waiting to see if Pickens can evolve into a leadership role.
Tomlin remarked, "A second contract didn't happen for us with George. But that doesn't necessarily mean that he's not gonna be a spectacular player." This suggests that while the Steelers had doubts about Pickens' readiness to be a key player, the Cowboys may hold a more optimistic view of his potential.
