Baylor junior Nate Bennett is in line to start against Louisiana Tech after producing 314 passing yards in his first start, while DJ Lagway remains listed as doubtful for the Bears’ Week 3 game.
Bennett completed 26 of 34 passes for three touchdowns and ran for another score in Baylor’s win over Prairie View A&M. He also had 13 rushing yards and two interceptions. Edward Griffin is listed as QB2 on the depth chart, with Quinn Murphy at QB3.
Lagway, a junior who transferred from Florida, suffered an ankle sprain during Baylor’s season-opening loss to Auburn. He played in that game but missed the Prairie View A&M contest. Coach Dave Aranda said Lagway took part in a Monday walkthrough and would be evaluated through his practice work.
The injury is not expected to sideline him for a month or longer, though it is unclear whether he could play in an emergency against Louisiana Tech. On3’s Pete Nakos reported that Baylor hopes Lagway returns for its Big 12 opener against Colorado next Saturday.
