As the regular season approaches, the Houston Texans have not made substantial changes to their wide receiver group, relying instead on younger players already on the team. The Texans have bolstered their roster with key signings, including Jadeveon Clowney and Mario Edwards, aimed at strengthening the defensive line.
With the recent signings of top wide receivers like Deebo Samuel, Stefon Diggs, and Keenan Allen by other teams, Houston's options for acquiring a notable wide receiver have diminished. Although Tyreek Hill remains unsigned, concerns regarding his recovery from a torn ACL injury render a potential signing unlikely.
Other wide receivers available, such as Curtis Samuel, Brandin Cooks, Tyler Lockett, and DeAndre Hopkins, may not significantly enhance the Texans' current depth chart.
The Texans may opt to stick with their existing lineup, featuring players like Nico Collins as the potential WR1 and Jayden Higgins as a possible WR2. Additionally, contributions are expected from Jaylin Noel and Xavier Hutchinson, along with a healthy Tank Dell. Despite not securing a major addition, the Texans' front office seems confident in their current wide receiver options.
With over $20 million in cap space, they retain the flexibility to make future roster moves, although the chances of adding a significant wide receiver before the season begins appear low.
