Aubrey ISD earned a C in the 2026 Texas accountability ratings, with an overall score of 77. The number worth reading is not that one.
The district's school progress domain scored 67, a D, and within it academic growth scored 66, also a D. Those are Aubrey ISD's lowest marks, and they measure something different from a test average.
Achievement versus growth
Student achievement, which reflects how students performed on state tests, came in at 79, a C. Closing the gaps scored 72, also a C.
Academic growth compares each student against their own prior performance. A district can post modest achievement scores and still earn a strong growth grade if its students are moving forward. Aubrey's report shows the opposite: achievement in the C range, growth in the D range.
That combination suggests the issue is less about where students start and more about the distance they are covering during the year.
Campus by campus
Of seven rated campuses, none earned an A. Three earned a B, led by Terrie McNabb Middle School at 84 and Aubrey High School at 83. HL Brockett earned a B at 80.
